Mac and PC versions of games
I've got a Windows desktop PC that is my primary gaming system, but I'm in the market for a new laptop and the MacBook Pro w/Retina Display is looking pretty good to me. I know I could BootCamp it and run Windows, but it appears that most of the games that I play from steam also have Mac versions. So my question is, if I install Steam on a Mac, will I automatically have access to the Mac versions of all of the PC games that I've already purchased, or would I have to re-buy them all again for the new platform?

I'm not familiar with Steamplay. I'm mainly thinking of the Valve games, HL2, the Eps that go with it, Portal, Portal 2, LFD1 and 2, etc. AFAIK they all have a Mac version as well.

Yeah mate if you have multiple machines with Steam installed you can access your games from any of them but can only play one at a time. A really great idea imo.
I own a MBPr and I can tell you it is FAN DAMM TASTIC!
Go nuts!

Valve ports their own versions, I'm not sure if they are native ports or emulations, I think a bit of both.

Aspyr has two Mac versions, Steamplay and App Store; Steamplay is cross-platform, the App Store version is not, there are other differences as well. If you have the PC version already on Steam, you also get the Mac version.

Yes, it also depends on the developer and what ever 3rd party ports the Mac version.

There is a Mac version of Borderlands 1 as well, it was ported by Feral (not Aspyr), so no Steamplay, no cross-platform, no 2 for 1.

If you are gettting the RMPB, check if you are buying it with The nivida graphics version... because if you don't you pretty much get lots of lagg in good games..

Unless you have a Windows partition on your Mac, then both work.

There's no such thing as a Retina MacBook Pro without the nVidia chip.

Oh. People actually buy those things? I couldn't imagine expecting to play games on something that didn't have discrete graphics. But to be honest, I couldn't imagine playing games on a 13" screen either, so I nver even looke that the 13" retina models.
