Crashing steam app on fullscreen mode

Mac OS X 10.8.5

DESCRIPTION
I'd came across several topics describing a steam crash when a video is toggled to fullscreen mode. However, for other people this issue seemed to be flash related since they also experience the bug while browsing through their desired browser.

For me this issue only occurs within the steam client itself. Whenever i enter fullscreen mode on my mac os laptop i immediately crash back to "desktop". Browsing the same url in my chrome browser works flawlessly.

LOG
Before the actual stack trace there are two more messages in the console output:

same here. MacBook Pro 10.9.2. Steam app crashes when I try to go fullscreen in preview clips for games.

Still happening on various macs with current version as of August 11th 2015. I am getting tired of years of taking support calls from customers who don't know how to use keyboard commands to quite or force quit blacked out apps. Valve needs to window the fullscreen video or disable the damn button.
