"Hide" option is non-functional on Mac OS
As of the new update, the Steam Client fully ignores the Hide feature in Mac OS. Trying to Hide Steam via shortcut key (Apple H) has no effect. Manually clicking Hide Steam in the menu bar briefly flashes the menu bar, but has no other effect. Steam also will not hide if you "Hide Others" from a different application.

This is a basic feature of Mac OS. It's impressive that Steam managed to break it.

Yup, for me the same.
Til they fix it I will minimize the windows if they are in the way.

BTW: would love to get the "Full Screen mode" for the normal Steam Client too…

On my mac the menus don't work at all when the steam window is open. You can't even click on the Apple menu - nothing appears.

Switching to any other app, the menus all work again. It's just this garbage steam client version.

Minimize to app is also broken.

The Hide feature is broken for me too.

I can minimize the windows, though. And the menu bar works for me.

I'm not using Big Picture mode, could that be the difference?

it seems same with every mac user, and hope they will fix it soon.
The in game steam is also broken..

it is still broken in the Beta version of the steam client, so it doesn't appear that Valve is bothering with this one

Or its not an easy fix and they haven't pinned it down yet. Don't give up!

The in game steam means steam overlay, sorry for your misunderstanding.

My Steam overlay works in the game I tested it in. (Northgard)

At least, it appears. I didn't look into it in detail yet since its all new.

The one I'm playing now I don't have it enabled. I forget if that's intentional.

It loses focus when you click on almost anything within the steam window. You can tell because the maximize/minimize colored buttons on the top left go grey. You can't regain the focus by clicking anywhere on the window including the title bar, and the drop-down text on STORE, LIBRARY, COMMUNITY won't appear in this state. To get the focus back, you have to switch to another app then switch back. Another way is to click on a top menu item, then click back onto the steam window which is similar to switching to another app and back.

Definitely a pretty big bug that relates to the basic operation of the app, so please report it.

Relatedly, sometimes (I'm not even sure of the exact conditions), when I open Steam, it will appear in front of a full-screen window.

This was particularly problematic when I had to update my application preferences. When Steam is in front of a full-screen application, I can't access any of the Steam preferences in the top bar that appears when you mouse over, because those are located in the desktop window. If I go to the desktop window and try to click on that bar, I'm immediately sent back to the window with Steam.

When this happened, I tried closing Steam (not quitting outright) and reopening while in desktop view, but this did not fix the issue. Quitting seems to sometimes but not always help.

Same. Surprised it hasn't been fixed yet.

Maybe its taking a while to pin down what's causing it?

I sure hope it's among the higher priority bugs; its getting annoying.
