Using whisky to run windows steam on Mac
I was playing windows games through whisky on my Mac and it worked for a week or two then stopped out of nowhere. Every time I try to start it, it gives me a prompt saying: "Steam encountered an unexpected error during startup (0x3008)." It says unexpected transport error at the top. Ive tried restarting everything and even uninstalling/reinstalling everything, as well as making a whole new Mac account to no luck. if anyone knows how to fix this please help. Thanks!

It is due to a Steam update. I am having the same issue. So far, there have been no updates on Whisky to solve the issue.
thank you very much i kinda figured something updated and screwed it up.

No problem. The worst rumour, is that whisky is no longer being updated.

Sad News :(. According to Whisky, they are no longer going to update the program. The link to the announcement is here: https://github.com/Whisky-App/Whisky/issues/1336. It is suggested from the community to switch to crossover. Quite disappointing as crossover is a cost service.

So far, I have tried Crossover, and it worked great for a few hours, then it doesnt load games properly. Whisky was the best app to play PC games, and it was free. RIP
I have the same issue. According the issue from github, we need Whisky add the support of Wine 10. Now, we only can use Crossover instead.:yoshino_charo:
The fix now is to roll back the Steam version to the last one supported, which can be found here https://docs.getwhisky.app/steam.html
