One caveat, though, is that I can't get a controller to work, but that is a longtime Steam/Mac issue.
hi mate,
Thanks a lot for this - I am an absolute dummy on Macs and stuff like this! if you could please assist me with this I would absolutely appreciate it!
Merry Christmas to you and your friends and family also!
How did you get it installed on your MacBook Pro M4? I just received my new Mac and I downloaded the app. When I try to open it wants to install Rosetta 2, and when I click install it states that "Rosetta 2 update is not available". Rosetta is not installed on this Mac anywhere nor can I install even from Terminal.
open terminal and run this :
softwareupdate --install-rosetta --agree-to-license
after you can install :)
1. **Check for Steam Updates**:
- First, make sure that you have the latest version of Steam. Steam automatically updates itself, but if it hasn’t updated for you, you might want to try reinstalling it to get the most recent version. Simply download the latest version from [Steam’s website](https://store.steampowered.com/about/).
2. **Run Steam with Rosetta 2**:
- For newer Mac models with Apple Silicon (like your M4), some apps might need to run under Rosetta 2 to be compatible. Right-click the Steam app in your Applications folder, choose **Get Info**, and check the box that says **Open using Rosetta**. This will help with compatibility with the new ARM architecture.
3. **Check for macOS Updates**:
- Since Steam has a history of adapting to new macOS updates, it's also important to make sure your macOS is fully up to date. Go to **System Preferences > Software Update** and make sure everything is updated.
4. **Reinstall Steam**:
- If the above steps don’t help, try uninstalling and reinstalling Steam. This ensures you're running a fresh installation and can fix any missing or corrupted files. Don’t forget to back up your Steam library if needed.
5. **Compatibility Issues**:
- If Steam is still not compatible with macOS 15.2 (Sequoia), it may be worth checking forums (like Steam Community or Reddit) for similar issues. Steam might still be working on an update for full compatibility with macOS Sequoia.
If none of these work, you can consider reaching out to Steam’s Support for further assistance.
I hope that helps! If you found this useful, please consider supporting me!
