Desktop game icons showing default Steam icon?
I'm downloading the complete edition of Civ IV and V. Civ V shows the correct icon on my desktop whereas Civ IV doesn't. I've tried changing the icon using this method:

http://www.idownloadblog.com/2014/07/16/how-to-change-app-icon-mac/

But it doesn't work. I tried using this icon:

http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i184/absolutsauron/civ.png

But when I try to apply using the above method, the icon starts showing as a JPEG icon...

I don't know what to do. Solutions appreciated, thank you.

Also, it shows the default Steam icon for Colonization, Warlords, and Beyond The Sword. But I'll probably just clear them from my desktop.

My version is 10.10.1 Yosemite.

You are using the right method, however, you cannot use png files. You have to use icns format.

Download the Civ icon here: http://iconverticons.com/icons/e21e32af76557c90/

Use the "Get Info" method, and just drag the pic to the icon.

That worked brillianly, thank you!
Now all I need to do is actually be able to play it... won't start up as it says I have the wrong version or something.

Well, glad I could fix the icon problem. I may be able to help with the launch problem. What is the message it gives on launch?

I'm not sure if it will happen with Civ V as it hasn't downloaded yet, but for IV it says:

'You can't use this version of the application "Civilization IV" with this version of OS X.'

'You have "Civilization IV" 1.74.'

Also, if I am unable to get IV running, I would try to recieve a refund, would I receive the money I payed for it, regardles if it was on sale or not?

Steam doesn't refund, but this may be a fix.

Yosemite doesn't like Civ 4, so this may work.

Oh my god, thank you so much! That worked perfectly :) Now I don't have wasted money :D

Just one more thing, are the DLC pack and the actual game all standalone? Since I'm able to load colonization..

Honestly, I am not sure. I think the DLC should load into the game automatically.

Can you tell me how you got that link for the icon??

Sure. Basically, you can take any image and turn it into a usable Mac icns.

Just drag an image into the box to convert.
