Question about maps loading slowly in CS:GO[MAC]

I have a 2011 -2012 Macbook Pro 15" and the game is working perfectly fine other than loading into a map takes a very long time like estimated 15 seconds late in the first round so i end up always missing the first round. Is there someway i could speed this up maybe in terms of lowering gfx or something.

I also had the Idea of using an external HD through firewire to load my games off a faster HD and was wondering if it would speed it up.
