Firewall permission continuous
I am not sure if this is an Steam problem or not, but every time I open the Steam client I am asked to either allow or deny incoming connections for it. I have already selected "allow" several times, and even selected "deny" once to see what would happen. Still, it continues to ask me every time it is launched. Is there a way to stop this from occurring?

Me too. Your operating system is Mac OS X? Do you turned on the firewall ? I think it is a new update of the Steam is not signed, so Mac OS X stop make it through. The only thing to do is turn off the firewall or wait for Steam new updates.

Same here. turn off the firewall doesn't work too =/

Yes, I am using Yosemite. I would rather not turn off the firewall, so I will just deal with it until they release a fix. I must say, Valve doesnt seem to have much experience with OS X, do they?

Same problem here. No idea how to fix it, Google searches don't turn anything up.

Spoke a little too soon. Just found this thread, with a solution that appears to have worked for me: http://steamcommunity.com/discussions/forum/2/540744937114663265/

I appreciate your help, but that solution did not solve my issue. I still get a pop-up asking for firewall permission everytime the application is started. Thank you though.

Same here. The Mavericks workaround isn't working for me on Yosemite. I'm assuming Valve will get to this soon enough. I imagine there are enough people with Macs to warrant it.

Unless they're getting close to finishing Half-Life 3, then I'll forgive them.

It has started to get rather irritating. In the last few days I have been unable to login on occassion due to this problem. I hope they get to sending out a fix before I get too frustrated to use Steam.

Yeah that previous fix stopped working for me. Asked every time I launch Steam again. Very annoying.

The recent update hasnt resolved the issue. Is it best to directly email these people then? They dont seem to be paying much attention on these forums.

That would be my guess. This can't be too complicated of a thing for them to do.

Most recent update seems to have fixed the issue. Can anyone else confirm?

Seems to have gone away for me too.

2018 and this is still a problem
Seriously, WTF valve?

Anyone have a new work-around for this Steam bug?
Avoid turning off an entire (OSX) firewall or allowing ANY incoming connection FROM ANYWHERE unless you understand what it really means. Valve, nice of you to tolerate brute-nuisance you-into-it 'permission hack' for this long. No other app or OS does this. Honest assessment. It happened to me today. This has been on-going for years. Please do not consider it non-malignant. DO NOT ALLOW INCOMING CONNECTIONS from app in the midst of perfectly good game. What mod still has client-side dedicated servers??? Then why are you allowing this on firewall as users and as company why not fix it?
