Trouble with game audio on my headset
Hi everyone!

I'm hoping that someone can help me with this. I recently got into gaming, and after several months decided it was time to invest in a proper headset. I got a Logitech G430 and really like it. The audio is great, the mic works well so far, and it's comfy.

My problem is that when I am chatting with other players in Steam, the game audio (Borderlands 2, if that makes a difference) starts playing through the built-in speakers of my MacBook Pro instead of through the headset. Only the chat audio comes through the headset. Since my headset is noise-cancelling, it means I can't hear the game, but the mic pics up the audio so my friends in chat are hearing the game as an echo in the background. This is the opposite of what I wanted.

I have checked my System Preferences as well as my Steam preferences, and nothing I have tried so far seems to be able to correct this problem to my satisfaction. The only way I've found is to unplug the USB connection and plug the headset directly into my audio jack, but that means I can't use the headset mic, only the built-in mic on my computer. That totally defeats the purpose of buying a headset with a mic, since I could have simply continued using my earbuds for the audio.

There *must* be a way to get both the chat and game audio to come through my headset and let me keep using the headset microphone.

Help? And thank you in advance!

Just borderlands? Or other games? Cause I have this headset and it works fine for me.

I only have the one game so far, so it's hard to say. When you use the headset, can you get both your game audio and your chat audio through the headphones? Did you have to alter your settings in any way? Maybe I'm just missing something.

No, it was working just fine for me. Maybe it's cause i'm on windows, and I mostly play CS:GO and Gmod.
Do you use the usb port or the other ports?
Edit: Try downloading a game like TF2 (it's free) and test it out.

Open the Audio MIDI Setup utility, pick your headphones as the default audio device. If it's already set to the headphones, try this when the game switches you out to the speakers and see if it sticks next time you play.

Thanks! I will give that a try and report back. :)

I'm back, and, alas, that didn't work for me either. I'm stumped!
