Steam Build1bd3d (Windows Steam on Mac) not opening
Just a few days ago I found this video online explaining how to play games on steam previously unavailable for mac, such as Morrowind, which I had been trying to figure out how to download. So I followed the instructions and downloaded WineBottler and Steam Build1bd3d and everything worked fine. But today when I got on my computer and clicked on Steam Build1bd3d, nothing happened. I logged off and logged back on, tried again, and still nothing happened. Right now I really have no idea what to do or what the problem is, but if anyone knows anything about this please let me know.

Its the glitchiest thing ever (although when it works it works properly), there is no sure thing to do about it. All you can do is make sure that everything is as updated as possible and to give it time. For example, a while ago, I moaned about my Skyrim not working on this, but then a month later, I tried for the hell of it, and it just started working again. Anyway; best of luck to you.

Alright that's weird, thanks though.

But how do I check if everything is updated or not if I can't even open Steam?
Princess Penally May 20, 2015 @ 10:32am
Ah, that explains it. If you haven't yet opened the SteamBuild (should be 1BD3D, if I remember from the top of my head) up for the first time yet, it can sometimes take up to an hour after the first boot. After that it should auto-update as usual.

No actually I have opened it before, multiple times, yet for some reason it won't open when I try to anymore. It's not the game that's the problem it's steam itself. (Or at least the Windows Steam, regular Steam works fine).

To elaborate, whenever I try to open up Steam Build1bd3d literally nothing happens. Nothing at all. Not sure how else to put it but it's not like it opens up but takes a super long time to load, it just doesn't even respond when I try to click on it.

Steam Build1bd3d & WineBottler are extremely unstable to run "heavy" Windows software on Mac.
Easiest solution to play old windows games would be to abandon Steam Build1bd3d and use full Windows on virtual machine (such as Parallels). Or install Windows natively on Mac via bootcamp utility.

Well see the problem here is... I don't have money. Are there any free alternatives to Parallels and all that or am I stuck with what I've got?
Princess Penally May 20, 2015 @ 11:26am
Parllels is a side along program on your Mac which emmulates (and is so called an emmulator and/or Virtual machine) Windows onto your Mac. HOWEVER! You still need to buy a Windows key etcetera, etcetera, otherwise it becomes illegal. The thing is though, is that even then, there can still be some problems. For example, suddenly having to download anti-virus software, installation times for games.

PRO'S OF PARALLELS:
Can run Windows at the same time as Apple's OSX.
Is modern and so runs efficiently as well as including updates.

CON'S OF PARALLELS:
Requires a payment to run.
Also requires to buy Windows.
Can require hours of installation of programs (anti-virus, Sound engine etcetera)

Bootcamp is the opposite of Parallels, it's free and made (I believe) by Apple, however in order to run, it must restart your computer every time you wish to switch between running Windows and running Apple's OSX.

PRO'S OF BOOTCAMP:
Free to use.
Doesn't lagg as Parallels may at times

CON'S OF BOOTCAMP:
Requires many restarts.
Isn't updated as often.

Alright thanks for your help guys, I'll try to figure this out.

A free Virtual Machine Software is Virtual Box. But you'll then need a windows iso file as you do with every Virtual Machine program.

Of course, why would we be using it if it wasn't safe, I mean look at my Profile and at how many hours I've spent in Skyrim, I'm fairly certain that it's safe.
