Cave Story + - Crash
Hello, i've just bought Cave Story and, after the installation, when i click on play button the game crashes, telling me that "cave story closed unexpectedly". I tried to read FAQS but no help for Mac users.
Thank you.

just veryfied game cache, but nothing
I'm running Maverick 10.9.5
you need to move the a copy of data folder in the cave story+ in the root directory of Macintosh HD
I can't find the data folder of Cave Story, where is it? And i really don't know what/where is the root directory, sorry :(
go to:

Macintosh HD>UserName>Library>Application Support>Steam>SteamApps>CaveStory+

there will be a folder named "data"

click on data folder and go to edit menu to copy "data" folder or cmd c

go to Macintosh HD root level (you will see an Applications folder, Library folder, System folder and users folder

paste in the "data" folder into Macintosh HD by edit menu or press cmd v

and now your cave story+ game should launch without problems
Magnus, thank's a lot, you're very kind but:
- in Library i don't have a Steam folder. I also searched it manually, and the only Steam element is the icon who's been created when i installed it; right click->show content but there isn't CaveStory+ folder inside. Actually, i don't have neither a CaveStory (only the icon, the same of Steam) folder in whole Mac.
so where is your steam library folder?

you can also try:
click on the menubar: Steam>Perferences>downloads>under content libraries>steam library folders

that will be the place where your steam games are installed and there you will find your game: cave story+ folder and inside will be the data folder
Done, but i don't have any CaveStory folder inside; it's really strange, but the game is correctly installed...
What if I install Yosemite? Should it works?
Anyway, the only thing I can find in the CaveStory icon is a "Content" folder, is that?
no, you are not doing "show contents" on the cave story+ app.
Macintosh HD>Users>Username>Library>Applications Support>Steam> SteamApps>common>Cave Story+

this should lead to your cave story+ folder and inside will have the cavestory+ app and a folder named "data"

so copy the data folder and paste it in your root directory

Macintosh HD
I could !! it works thanks to this topic
wtf is root directory
ok so I know this thread is really old, but whoever is nice enough out here, that would be awesome.

So I pasted the data folder into Macintosh HD, and it still quits. I double checked, and I'm almost certain I did everything right. Please help... I'm currently using macOS Sierra 10.12.5
