Steam Overlay notification window gets stuck and only happens with Civ V for Mac but not other games

I have a problem-- in Civilization V for Mac, the Steam overlay notification window getting stuck on the lower right corner off the screen after the Asypr logo movie and stays stuck until the Civ 5 game screen appears. Does anyone have any ideas what is causing this and how to fix it? I made a screen recording of it.

It only happens with the Civilization 5 game but not my other games on Steam/

I want the steam overlay though. My specs:
MacBook Pro 15.4" Late 2012 nonretina model, 2.3GHz quad core i7, 16GB RAM, Nvidia 650M 512MB, 1GB Intel 4000 HD, Mac OSX 10.9.5
