I can't open Steam after installing and updating on Mac (Maverick)
I recently got a new laptop (Macbook Pro) and I installed Steam so I can play G-Mod. I installed it and when I opened it, it updated. After it was done updating I tried to open it but all I saw was the "Steam" thing quickly appear then disappear and revert back to Finder. I deleted it and reinstalled it several times and also restarted the computer several times. I really need help.

Please try the following below. The below will do a full refresh on your Steam library:

Mac OSX
  • Completely exit the Steam client.
  • Open Safari and type steam://flushconfig then press enter
  • Restart your computer.
  • Launch Steam and re-test the issue.

You had mentioned you were on OS X Mavericks. You may need to provide Steam universal access. Information about this can be found below:

Enabling Universal Access on OS X Mavericks
  1. Open System Preferences --> Security & Privacy
  2. Click the Privacy tab.
  3. Click the lock icon to make changes.
  4. Select Accessibility from the list.
  5. Check the box next to any applications (i.e. Steam) and System Events, if present.
    • If you don't see the app you're trying to authorize, simply drag and drop the app from Finder to add it.
    [/olist]
  6. [/list]
