8bitdo Pro 2 on Mac, (10.14 mojave) & Steam + Metro 2033 Redux; what settings to use, ugh?
I'm just trying to play Metro 2033 Redux with this new controller. I cannot for the life of me figure out the best way to set up this new 8bitdo Pro 2 for basic game play. 8bit's support is ...lacking, to say the least. Anyone here who could share the settings they're using for this controller, a Mac with older OS, and if you're doing any other things to make this work correctly?

-Settings for Mac
-Settings for 8bitdo Pro 2 (S-A-D- or -X?)
-Settings for Steam (preferences, controller, etc.)
-Settings for controller inside the game, Metro 2033 Redux
-Setting inside 8bit's 'Ultimate Software' (if applicable)

-Settings for my brain to understand this, lolz. I don't get it at all... Sorry, but always used just a keyboard for games, but I really want to make this controller work as it seems so much more pleasant. But howdy, is it complicated for me! Thanks! :)

It's an Intel Mac, right?

It was some years ago when I had access to a Mac so don't know how things are but would suggest starting off trying the game's native controller support:

Steam:
leave all controller support off (Steam > Preferences > Controller > General Controller Settings)

Pro 2, try:
1. Bluetooth X-mode
2. Wired X-mode
3. Wired A-mode
4. Bluetooth A-mode

You may need the Xbox 360 controller driver for wired X-mode (and also for Steam's Xbox gamepad emulation?? don't know if Steam still requires it)
https://github.com/360Controller/360Controller

Another thing for Steam's controller support:
Back when I was testing things, with a controller connected Big Picture mode would offer a prompt to install a gamepad driver. Don't know if the process has changed or if new BPM prompts this or if old BPM does so at the Controller Settings screen

I use this controller with an m1 mac and use it in Bluetooth X-Mode. Used it at first in bt a-mode (thought that's what instructions said) and it's recognized as a ps4 controller and works in some games but not others. BT X-Mode works much better. However there's still some games that never recognize the controller no matter what, like Aragami.
