Can a Xbox elite 2 controller be used for Steam games?

I can get it connected via bluetooth and can move around in the steam Big Picture Mode to select a game.
( I went to big picture controller settings and it shows steam detected elite controller )

But it becomes unresponsive within every game I've tried,

all controller have this problem on macOS Big Sur

does this mean valve has to update steam to support Apple-provided Game Controller framework in order to make game controller works normal again ?

I wish every victim here can use the macOS / iOS feedback assistant to report valve to apple for such irresponsible behavior toward its users , hoping apple to give enough pressure against valve

they did that to them with the steam link issue before

god I wish apple would just spend 100 billion to ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ buy up valve and release their own controller , like Microsoft buying up Bestheda studio to own all the elder scroll ip

Xbox Elite 2 does work with the latest Steam Gamepad Driver, But it has limited support. some games will work flawlessly like Dead Cells, Borderlands 2, other games will not. Its not just about Steams Driver but also the Game itself. But the game and steam driver need to have “active” support for a controller for it to work.

According to that long controller post
it won't work on Apple Silicon. Rosetta 2 doesn't translate kernel extensions and Valve has never released an ARM64 driver

I’m reporting valve to apple for their lame ass irresponsible support on macOS & apple scilicon ARM infrastructure .

well, it got native support on MacOS and Apple Arcade

and its valve and all the developer's fault for not updating their game controller framework , that's why we must all keep complain until they do their job

even today 2021 some Apple Arcade games are still having issue for detecting elite 2 controller when this should have been a standard

Engineering has provided the following information regarding this issue:

Some of these games are built using game engines that access game controllers in a different way than through the Apple-provided Game Controller framework, which knows how to work with the Elite V2 controller. Over time as games and game engines update we expect they’ll begin supporting more controllers.

We’re regret the inconsistency of this when playing Arcade titles on macOS.

2023 soon, my xbox Elite 2 controller still don't work on steam on my macbook. Just in case if anyone thinking about buying xbox controllers, mac or anything in steam. Going to broadcast this to all my friends and social networks. I guess steam, apple and microsoft just stopped develop their hw and soft at some point.
