How to play Sims 3 on mac? (CD key needed)

Hi,

I am trying to play the sims 3 on macbook big sur. I have bought the game on steam a few years ago.
Other forums say you need to put in the CD key into Origin (the EA version of steam(?)) and then the game will be installed. But i can't see the cdkey of the sims 3 in steam.

I have contacted steam support and they say to verify game files and then you should be able to right click on the game in the library - Manage - CD key. But it is not visible for me when i click on manage.

Anyone got any tips?

I have also tried to start the game (on pc) with steam while Origen runs in the background. to trigger origen to recognize the game but this didn't work.

Do you mean the Windows only game, Sims 3?

EA never bothered to release the Mac version on Steam.
The Mac version is Origin only.

The product key is requested from the Steam servers on the first actual launch of the game.
