[MAC OS X 10.6.8] Any solution on how to launch Steam after the update??
So as many of you would know, Steam no longer supports the 10.6.8 version of Mac OS X. So I was wondering if any of you have found a solution beside updating itor buying a PC. I've been searching for over 2 days and found nothing, so if anyone has a solution I would be so damn grateful. Thanks.

If you looked at the forums, you should know by now to use bootcamp, crossover, wine....

I reverted Steam to the last version that works on 10.6.8 (from my backup drive), then made sure it would not update the next time I ran it. It works perfectly.

How can you make sur that it won't update? Everytime I launch an old version of Steam it updates automatically and I cannot do anything about it.

Use a text editor, and make a file with one line:
BootStrapperInhibitAll=Enable
Save it as "Steam.cfg". At 1st, I put it in ~/Library/Application Support/Steam/SteamApps/ but that didn't work. So I copied it into the Steam Application by right-click Steam -> Show Package Contents -> open Contents -> open MacOS -> put the file in there. I have the file in both places now, but I'm pretty sure it only needs to be in that last one. Now it doesn't update the Steam app, but games still update.

Thanks alot dude, but here's what happens: http://imgur.com/a/kViG6

Edit: That might be because I've never ''launched'' the old version before?? Would you mind sending me your version via Mediafire or something else, actually idk if it would work. Now that I've updated Steam to its latest version, this appears: http://imgur.com/RAWZu2y . Before I had none of that... So I need an older version of Steam that already has been launched or something.. and idk how to do that.

Did you revert Steam to the old version 1st, like I mentioned in my 1st post?

Yeah, this is definitely the problem, and I don't know how to do that. I don't have any backup of the old Steam versions...

I doubt Steam would appreciate me posting that here in their forum, but it's discussed elsewhere, try googling 'steam old version mac'.

All it says at that link is that there are places that still have old versions. Many of them are places that Steam allows to have the download that just haven't yet updated to the latest file. But on your advice, I deleted the direct link to the discussion. Of course, it's still in your quote of me. :)

Yep! I did that! I used an old Steam version (from August, and I tried one from February), but it didn't worked...

In the description for that site, it says it uses a pirated version of steam

Anyways I'm starting to lose hope, I retried many times, but it's always showing the same message; ''Failed to load steamui.dylib''. I don't think that I'm doing anything wrong, I just think that it is because I've never launched the old version of Steam before adding the cfg file...
