Steam not installing on Mac OS X Yosemite 10.10.5
When I try and install Steam, it says, "Steam is damaged and can't be opened. You should move it to the Trash"

Are you on a Admin or Standard account on your Mac? I'd assume it's Admin, but you never know.

Is Steam installed in your Applications folder? If not, try putting it there.

Have you deleted your Steam Application Support folder? It may have some corrupted data, and wouldn't be deleted with the app itself.

If you have your firewall turned on, try turning it off, just for the download.

Not sure what else you can try, haven't seen that issue myself on 10.10.

I just found the solution

I just have the same problem, but in macOS Catalina, and is very simple.

You just need to open it again, when the advise apears again, select "Move to trash".

When you get this, go to your trash, it will appear a file named "Steam macosx" or something like that, then you delete it.

Now when you open again Steam will let you.

I doubt your post will be of any help for the OP as the thread is four years old. Steam even no longer works under that particular Mac OS X version the OP mentioned.

Your Mac OS X version is simply too old and no longer supported.
