Steam for Mac
So i recently decided to boot up my old imac that runs ios catalina (which is an old update from about 2019) and have been trying out different sites to run windows steam to be able to play cetrain games. But after 3 days of searching i found "porting kit" and it was the only emulator that was able to open up steam but once i download a game it wont start the game at all it fails in the proccess. Any experts here that can lead me in the right direction? i am pretty sure its the old mac im already in the process of getting a new one, but im sure theres still a way to run 32 or 64 bit games on this mac i just need help finding a pre loader thats compatible enough to run smoothly

Ok... since you have an intel-based iMac that is running MacOSX (10.15.?), you can download a free compatibility environment called VirtualBox. You'll have to get (probably pay for) a copy of the WindowsOS to run on it, if you don't already have it.

VirtualBox runs really well - I used to use it all the time when I was working IT. There can be a slight performance hit running Windows in it instead of booting the Mac into Windows using Apple's BootCamp technology. But, for most older PC (windows) games, it should work fine.

VirtualBox is NOT an emulator. It is a virtual machine compatibility environment that lets the Windows code run natively on the Mac's Intel processor. This is a rather simple explanation, but it is technically correct.

Just head over to VIrtualBox (dot) org and take a look. If you have more questions, I'll be monitoring this thread. REGARDS!
