External Hard Drive Games not opening.
So recently, I got my first External Hard Drive because I have a MacBook Pro and I need more space for bigger games. When I download them and then play them, they work fine, but when I eject the drive (so I can take my laptop somewhere else or something) and then plug it back in, the game doesn't appear as installed on steam and when I click the icon in the finder, it just starts to open, but then immediately closes. Any thoughts?

try
1. replug the drive, wait till the alias appears on the macbook screen
2. quit Steam
3. relaunch Steam and check

Hi, Jaxel. Sorry I thought Steam would scan your drives when it launches. There may be a way to ask it to do so. I don't use any EHD, so I have just ideas not clues or proof it works, still check : Steam menu/prefs/downloads/Library/add another folder and point to the EHD Steam folders.

Typing "external hard drive" in the discussion lets appear 101 pages on the thread, some users have their steam client on the external hd, which seems to avoid Ur pb.

Try changing the steam folder libraries option.
Go on preference> downloads > content library
Hope this helps
