You tell me if that sounds good.
It all comes down to what you want to do and your preferences. Since this is a gaming forum I wouldn’t recommend a Mac for the sole purpose of gaming. So if you’re a hardcore gamer who always wants to play the latest AAA titles on the release date or are into E-sporting you are better off with a PC, or an even cheaper console. Since you come here to ask I assume you’re not a hardcore gamer because if you already were you wouldn’t ask.
If you are interested in Macs for other purposes like education and productivity and are a casual gamer Macs can be a very good and wise choice. As people say you don’t buy a Mac for gaming but Macs can game and done so for many decades. With the Apple Silicon and Apple’s push for gaming in recent years with new gaming technologies and collaboration with major game developers there are plenty of games for Mac, both AAA and indie. The selection is smaller but more games have day-and-date release for Mac now thanks to Apple Silicon, like Lies of P, Frostpunk 2 and AC Shadows. You can also use software like Crossover/Wine/Whisky/Game Porting Toolkit/PlayOnMac/Mac Source Ports and even Geforce Now to play Windows games on Mac, even old 32-bit games, just like Proton/Wine on Steam Deck.
Even large corporations like IBM and Google recommend Macs to their employees and seen many advantages over using PCs. Their employees using Macs are happier and more productive and they save a lot of money on support costs. For example according to a report by IBM they have just seven people supporting 200,000 macOS devices in contrast to the 20 needed to support the same number of Windows devices. This means it costs IBM 186% more to support Windows than it does Macs.
If you’re someone who likes to build PCs and configure and change your OS in many ways then Macs are not for you. Although you can do a lot with the underlying Unix in macOS if you can use Terminal. The majority of people though want a computer that just works and don’t care about building or diving deeply into the OS. Even many PC users who build their own systems admit that they don’t upgrade later and just buy a new system when it’s time because it’s not worth it or because of the limitations of the old system. Many also can’t stand Windows anymore and like the simplicity of macOS in many aspects. Many PC laptops and OEM desktops are not upgradable either.
Finally it’s always good to do your own research instead of listening to some hardcore Linux gamers in this forum who despise Apple and Mac and just enjoy to spread disinformation like ”no Vulkan support” and ”poor RAM shared with GPU”. macOS has support for the latest Vulkan through MoltenVK which is used in games like Metro Exodus. Vulkan has also little native support among game developers and in PC games. Only about 200 of 156,000 games have native Vulkan support according to Khronos group. One reason is that it’s so hard to use and develop for that the Khronos group itself recommends easier APIs for making games. The Unified memory architecture in Apple Silicon has on the contrary excellent performance and many advantages over the traditional way of copying information from RAM and sending it between CPU,GPU, RAM and VRAM. Another benefit is that by increasing your RAM you automatically increase your VRAM so a Mac with 32GB RAM has 21GB of VRAM. This means you don’t have to buy a new GPU for more VRAM. You just choose more RAM when you buy a Mac. For comparison only RTX 4090 has 24GB VRAM.

ok.. i spose i dont feel any limitation with the pc programs i use
and the way i use them...
which is the bottom line... at this point...
my thoughts that macs are better is probably from
the past where macs were at the forefront and you
always felt second best on pc... i did have a mac
sticker on my computer... LOL no one would know...
Every platform and tool has its advantages and disadvantages. One could argue that Macs are still better in many ways but all that matters is that people are happy with their choice of HW/SW and respect other people’s choices. It’s just pitiful to see some other people, while not even being Mac users, spamming all the threads with every chance they get to desperately try to force their ideas and choices to long-time Mac users and basically claiming Macs are garbage and Apple is evil with disinformation and their ridiculous and delusional obsession with things like Vulkan, despite all opposing facts presented.
Happy gaming!
it is an apple product so it will be expensive
