MAC External easy store hard drive problem: Says not enough disk space but is 3.5 TB of free space
I used to be able to run full on games via my external hard drive but now I can't download anything. I think I updated steam without the external hard drive so I decided to create a new 'easystore' storage to try to fixthat. I also did the old trick where if it used to say 'not enough disk space' you do the 'make default'.
But nothing I did works it's all 'not enough disk space to update" and I can't download anything anymore.

The latest update on the beta fixed it for me. Steam Preferences > Account > Beta Participation. Change it to opt in then update

Same trouble for me on Macbook air M1 and an external SSD. This SSD works properly under Steam Windows 11...

I am having the same issue. Not enough disk space reported when trying to install downloads. It is to an external drive (14TB with 12TB free), and my steam library has lived on it for at least 1.5 years without issue.

Same issue since today. Until yesterday no problem but today I get the exact same problem. On my internal harddrive (Mac M1) everything works fine. But on two different external SSD's I get the same issue -> Not enough space, even if there is enough

Is it the update that did this? It happened only a very recent thing.Maybe we can contact steam support about this problem?

There is a bug forum and some people already left some messages there.

I am thinking it was the last steam or Mac OSX update as everything was working fine before for me. I never had any problems with my Steam Library on external storage

Clockstep 21. mai 2022 kl. 2.32

I've received info from the Steam support:

HI there - thank you for waiting.

Our developers have identified some bugs around this and are planning on shipping a fix this week. It will be shipped to the Steam public beta - so I would recommend opting into that, so you can get this fix asap.
