"File is damaged and can't be opened"
After installing Civ VI on Steam on my Macbook, I try to open the game. This error message shows: "Civilization VI is damaged and can't be opened. You should move it to the Trash. This file was downloaded on an unknown date."

I have played this game for 100 hours already, though most of it was years ago on this same computer.

I have tried the following fixes. Nothing works:

Uninstall, reinstall

Restarting my computer

Verifying the integrity of the game files on Steam itself

Going into the terminal and finding the extended attributes (xattr) of the game. com.apple.quarantine does NOT exist on the file. I have removed all extended attributes from the file, and it still doesn't open

Removing the DLCs and downloading the base game

Thanks!

Try to open the game, the error should make a message appear at the bottom of your security settings under "security and privacy" which allows you to bypass this error, try to open it again, and it should work as expected
