Issues with 8bitdo SN30 Pro controller and some Steam games
Hi everyone,

I’m hoping I’ve come to the right place to discuss this issue, and let me preface this by saying I recently decided to buy a controller for the first time as I’ve always been a keyboard player.

The SN30 Pro controller works relatively fine - it connects via Bluetooth seamlessly and I am able to navigate the steam platform but wired (which is unfortunate). However, when I get into the game it doesn’t work…nothing registers and I’m only able to play the game using the keyboard despite seeing controller symbols. I have tried other games (I.e. Stray) and the controller works without hesitation but in this particular game (Snowrunner) it is completely unresponsive.

I am open to an help or suggestions out there.

Thanks!

Same problem here, my 8bitdo sn30 pro works on the rest of my mac pretty seamlessly, even on retroarch games, but Steam wont recognize it, and Ive tried downloading the stupid 8bitdo ultimate software but it doesnt work for Mac and wont recognize my controller even when plugged in via usb (like the software asks you to do) even though the 8bitdo program wont recognize the controller plugged in my mac will still recognize it during this time.... I just wish Steam would figure out a way to make generic controllers work in Mac, why is that so hard???
UPDATE JUST NOW, to say that i plugged in the controller to usb and reopened steam and it recognized it and I was able to go through the controller setup, which worked fine except missing a few buttons, but thats ok. The disappointing thing is it stops working once i unplug it from usb. So in steam it seems like you can setup and use this controller but it must be plugged in to usb....
