Steam client stuck on forever loading screen after launch
I'm trying to install the Steam client on my MacBook Pro (chip Apple M2 Pro, macOS Ventura 13.3.1). I've restarted my computer, completely reinstalled several times, including removing the Steam folder from ~/Library/ApplicationSupport, but keep running into the same issue:
Whenever I launch the app, it gets stuck on a black screen with a loading spinner, no menu bar, no nothing. At this point I can't even quit or force quit the application in a normal way unless I go into the Activity Monitor and manually kill the process. Occasionally it lets me get to the login form first, but without fail at some point it flips to the loading spinner screen and gets stuck there. Any ideas how I can fix this?

I'm having the same issue on a macbook air m1 (Sonoma 14.0)

EDIT:

This command line fixed it: /usr/sbin/softwareupdate --install-rosetta --agree-to-license

The loading screen did popup again while I was looking for the authentication code. If this happens, just kill the process and open the client again. I had to enter the code quickly.

I'm having same issue on MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2017) with 2,9 GHz Intel Core i7 quad-core with Monterey 12.5.1, so even suggestion for reinstalling rosetta doesn't make sense.
The bus appeared out of nowher, no update or any install done...

So I am not the only one. Steam, is there a fix?

So, no official help here?

[fix] hello, i had the same problem. I downloaded today the client and stuck at loading screen. If you hover above the steam process, you won't see that 2 separate windows exist. However if you use the shortcut, that is used to switch between different windows of the same process:
👉🏻 Cmd ⌘ + `
👉🏻 check screenshot for the key ⌨️: https://i.stack.imgur.com/4IrTe.png
the client log-in screen will appear.

@ajf60597 check fed's post. should fix.

i found his instructions confusing at first, just hit command and the button with these characters on it-->( ` ~ ) (the ones inside the previous parentheses) do this while the loading screen is open and the login page should appear, then login an you shouldn't have this problem again. if you do, simply repeat.

Still having this issue but can't login fast enough due to 2fa. Still a problem, still no fix.

So got around this by using the app to authenticate instead of an email code. Then it logins in immediately after scanning the QR code. Catches it before the app hangs.
