MacBook Pro 2021 Apple M1 Pro Steam won't download games becuase "No internet connection"

Hello everyone

I can't install/update my games.

Basically, when I open Steam (and I have an internet connection) I want to install the game, when I go to download I see a red error "No Internet connection" and nothing changes.

I've deleted everything steam related (that I found) on my Mac and reinstaled Steam, but the problem did not change.

Another issue is that my Steam won't update, I see message from April 26th that I need to update my Steam, when I press update and follow all steps it exits the Steam application and after reopening it I receive same message.

Please help.

Is Steam allowed in the Mac's firewall options? I'm wondering if something is blocking it, either the firewall or a 3rd party network monitor like Little Snitch or LuLu. Maybe even at the router level?

The Steam worked before, it just doesn't work now.
And how can I check if firewall or 3rd party blocking it?

System Settings > Network > Firewall > Options

See if Steam is in the list with "Allow incoming connections" enabled.

If you're on and older MacOS than Ventura (MacOS 13), then maybe via: System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Firewall > Firewall Options.

No nothing is blocking through Firewall

Your screen shots show that you can see friends and have received notifications, so maybe the problem is elsewhere.

Perhaps another removal and installation might help. Here's a link to outline what to remove:

I'm having the same problem. Started last night. I followed the same steps you did (uninstalled, reinstalled steam), and nothing will download from Steam. I can browse the store, select games to download, but nothing will actually download. No other internet problems. I'm running a Mac Studio M2.

For some reason on my M2Pro Mac mini I have to use my phones hot spot to download games. Not sure why the wifi isn't compatible with steam. Turned off 'Limit Address Tracking" on both not happened not sure what's up with my router I was able to download and play games just fine on my MBP with this wifi. Try a hot spot from another device.

I have this exact issue as well - unable to download anything through steam over WiFi and having to use the phone as a hotspot instead! Not sure what is happening but have uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times and have checked the firewall settings as well! I just got the macbook its a Macbook M1 Pro 2021 with 16gb Ram and 512GB Storage so I dont think it should be an issue with the laptop itself as I am currently watching Sky Go on this laptop and there are no issues. It would appear to be something between the Steam Client and the macbook however.

I am having the exact same problem! I’m on a MacBook Pro 2019. I can watch twitch and youtube with no problems. But for some reason I can’t download/update stardew valley on steam. It worked two years ago but not now. When I messaged steam, they said it looks like I’m having problems connecting to the servers. Considering quite a few MacBook users are having problems now I would have thought they would start looking into it.

If you are on Ventura the path is:

System preferences->network->your network interface (ethernet or Wi-Fi)->Details
It should appear under the name, don’t forget to accept and then start the steam client app (if it was already opened you have to close it completely and start it again)
