Steam Client does not Open on Mac Catalina 10.15

I repeatedly downloaded the steam client which is supposed to work with Mac OS 10.15 but it does not on my MacbookPro. The suggestions to try appleinsider did not work either, because there is no steam folder in my Application Supprot/Library. I have written to Support but I am waiting for an answer. My Problem ist that I bought this game, paid for it and now can't play it and Support keeps quiet. Anybody can help? Thanks

im running MacOS 10.15.3 cataline on the new macbook pro 2019 model right now and im not having any problems what so ever with steam client. all i could say is make sure apple update is applied and restart a few times then try uninstalling steam and reinstall steam making sure your using mac version if reinstalling catalina didnt work and if that dont work make sure you dint change any apple software denying access to steam maybe? idk im new to mac switched over from pc just thought id share that it does work for the new mac update atleast

The same thing is happening to me at the moment? Have restarted and redownloaded multiple time but after downloading the client never launches, the icon just jumps once in my dock?

Same to me. Steam is not opening on Mac 10.15.3.

OK, I managed to get Steam working! What I did was delete this folder "~/Library/Application Support/Steam". Then, just click on the app and it works! (The app updates itself the first time and you ahce to re run it)

I'm dragging my feet on upgrading to 10.15 from 10.14, mainly because of Steam. Steam indicates support for 10.15. Has anyone updated from 10.14 to 10.15 with no problems with Steam? I'd hate to lose my game saves at this point...

I use it on 10.15.3 and no problems.

try going to Applications-> Steam then control click steam ->click show contents then go to os x then click on steam_osx -> it will start the update then you will be able to open steam

Fixed this problem on my machine running OSX 10.15.5

2019 iMac, did a data migration on install so this may not work for you, it may. Who knows.

I did a Finder search for Steam and deleted everything associated with it... The application and ALL folders containing logs, saves, etc. Reinstalled Steam, worked perfect.

Try to drag steam to app folder then open finder go to applications and open app there, works for me
