Steam start with black screen
I'm using steam on a Mac. Recently when I open the Steam app on my computer, the pop up sign in screen is completely black. I thus cannot start the game. Really keen to hear what I can change.
I'm playing on a MacBook Pro from 2015, with OS X El Capitan, vers. 10.11.6

Thank you!

Here are some possible solutions to try if you are experiencing a black screen when launching Steam on your Mac:

Restart your computer: Sometimes simply restarting your Mac can fix the issue.

Clear Steam's download cache: Open Steam, go to "Steam" in the top-left corner of the screen, select "Settings," and then "Downloads." Click "Clear Download Cache" and restart Steam.

Verify game files: If the black screen is happening when trying to launch a game, right-click the game in your Steam library and select "Properties." Go to the "Local Files" tab and click "Verify Integrity of Game Files." Wait for the process to complete and then try launching the game again.

Delete local Steam files: Quit Steam and go to your "Applications" folder. Right-click the Steam icon and select "Show Package Contents." Open the "Contents" folder, then the "MacOS" folder. Delete the following files: "steam.cfg," "steam.sh," and "clientregistry.blob." Restart Steam.

Disable GPU acceleration: Open Steam, go to "Steam" in the top-left corner of the screen, select "Settings," and then "Interface." Uncheck the box next to "Enable GPU accelerated rendering in web views" and restart Steam.

Update macOS: Make sure you are running the latest version of macOS by going to the Apple menu in the top-left corner of the screen, selecting "System Preferences," and then "Software Update."

If none of these solutions work, you may want to contact Steam support for further assistance.

Thank you!

For me screen is white

But resizing steam window helps, as content appears immediately

What version of macOS does Steam support?
Starting Sept. 1, 2023, the Steam Client will no longer run, and you'll have to update to macOS 10.13 High Sierra in order to play any games that run through Steam on your Mac.Apr 6, 2023

sounds like your os is new enough. I am having same problem suddenly now in June of 2023 and I am running mac os 10.13.6 high sierra and it worked like a week ago so not sure what changed. I can not upgrade my OS as my laptop is not comptible.
