Need Help with Understanding System Requirements
Hi, pretty new user here. I saw that great sale on Witcher 1 & 2, but I wasn't sure if my Macbook Pro has the system requirements to run it.

Here's the minimum requirements for Witcher 1:
OS: OS X 10.8, 10.9, 10.10
Processor: Intel Core i5
Memory: 4 GB of RAM
Graphics: nVidia GeForce GT 650m (1440x900), AMD Radeon HD 6750M (1440x900) or Intel HD 5000 (1366x768)
Hard Drive: 14.25 GB free space

Here's the minimum requirements for Witcher 2:
OS: OS X 10.8.5 or higher
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo
Memory: 4 GB RAM
Graphics: GeForce GT 650M 512MB (on 1440x900, low), Radeon HD 5770 1GB (on 1440x900, low), Intel integrated graphics chipsets are not supported
Hard Drive: 25 GB HD space

And here's what it says in "About This Mac"
OS: 10.10.5 (Yosemite)
Processor: 2.6 GHz Intel Core i5
Memory: 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphics: Intel Iris 1536 MB
Storage: 142.22 GB free of 249.82 GB

I would really appreciate any help anyone can give me. Thanks in advance!

It's likely you have a different graphics card that's not showing up on "About This Mac".

The Iris is a graphics chipset integrated into the CPU. It is NOT going to be robust enough to handle Witcher 2, and likely won't do well with Witcher 1 either.

To find out what dedicated graphics card your macbook pro has either run a program with high end graphics needs, like Photoshop, or go into System Preferences>Energy Saver and then uncheck automatic graphics switching. Then check the About This Mac. There are other ways of doing it, but that's the easiest.

As a warning, unchecking automatic graphics switching will make your computer go through its battery much faster.

Based on the fact it has an i5 CPU and 16 GB of DDR3, my guess is you'll be fine. But you can check what your actual dedicated graphics card is using the above method.

Just to warn you, I had problems running both games on a Mac. They simply weren't that smooth to me, and the Mac mouse wasn't geared towards playing either game. Some of it is the games themselves, but plenty of it was the port to Mac.

If you have a SSD or Fusion Drive youre good. If not that is where you will run into problems. You have an i5 dual core and 16 GB DDR3 which is good and more importantly 1.5GB on board video ram which games now draw on ALOT the MORE the better. For gaming its either an SSD or Fusion drive the SSD is fast loads the games faster. Regular drives just can't handle the graphics and will load sloooowly and move the same way. If you use the magic mouse it should work fine.
