To do that: Right click on the game name in Library > Properties > Local Files > Verify Integrity of Game Cache.
If that doesn't work, try pulling your game's Application Support folder to the desktop and re-launching. That folder will have settings and saves, and if the game launches fine without it, you can just put your saves back.
I Verified and it said it checks out, bu to other option, when i look in my borderlands 2 folder all i see is "Disk-1" actually spelled disk
Try this:
- Exit out of Steam (actually close the program).
- Click on Finder.
- In the application menu at the top of the screen, select Go.
- Select Go to Folder...
- In the text box enter: ~/Library (the tilde "~" symbol is important)
- In the Library folder, select Application Support.
- There should be a folder named "borderlands 2" (probably lower-case, but it's fine if it isn't).
- Pull that entire folder onto your desktop.
- Launch Steam, and Launch the game again.
If that doesn't work, try checking for updates for the Steam client. All you have to do is have Steam launched, and in the application menu at the top of the screen select "Steam", one of the options will be to check for updates.
Couple points to clarify:
- What size Macbook Air is it? 11" or 13"?
- What OS are you on, and is it up to date?
- Do you have any other programs running when you try to launch, including anti-virus software? Make sure they are off.
- How long have you waited with the black screen up? You might try letting it go for a couple minutes to see if it sorts itself out, if you haven't done that already.
- Are you connected to the internet when you launch? (Shouldn't make a difference, but worth checking)
- Are you running on an Admin account on your Mac or a Standard account? If you don't know, or you're the only one who uses it, you are probably on an Admin account.
Let me know. I'll try to figure out what else you can do.
-Just updated today
-Usually just steam, skype, google chrome, and maybe iTunes
-I've waited at least 20 minutes before
-Always connected to internet when launching
-I'm running on Admin
It might be worth deleting and re-installing the game again. After deleting the game (using the Delete Local Files option in Steam), go to the ~/Library/Application Support/Steam/steamapps/common/ folder and delete the entire borderlands2 folder if there is one, before installing again. Also make sure to delete the ~/Library/Application Support/borderlands 2/ folder as well.
Another thing to look at is what devices you have connected to the Mac. Any mouse that needs special drivers, midi keyboard, flight stick, controller, etc. You might try launching with nothing connected to the Mac at all to see if one of them is causing a problem. Obviously if you have nothing connected then that's not it.
Another possibility is going into Steam settings and disabling Steam Overlay in-game. I don't think the game should have a problem with it, but some do.
