Report a translation problem
1) Make a folder on your external hard drive for your games.
2) Copy the games to that folder (from your current library folder, if you don't know where it is check your preferences to see the path).
3) After you successfully copy those games over you can delete them from your original hard drive
4) Now you have to tell Steam where your game folders are: Go into Preferences/Downloads/Steam Library Folders/ then add your new folder from your external HD
5) Now when you go to library at first it will look like none of your games are installed. What you need to do is reinstall them, except this time you are going to pick your new hard drive as the location for your files. Steam will realize that there are already files in the folders you chose each and every time you reinstall a game, so it will just confirm them then add whatever else it needs to make them work.
Sorry I'm not an expert on these matters... The procedure I mentioned earlier worked for me on my mac mini but I have not tried it on my MBA (no space to really play around with steam on there)..
I don't want to mess you up at all so I'm going to hold off on any more advice. I hope you are able to get it worked out.
