Steam Universal Access Not Working
Okay, so with the new update that came out around the 14th of August, 2014, I've been having problems with the steam overlay... My main problem is that I go into the part where you allow steam, and I check box it, then it doesn't work.... The problem remains, even though I have done what steam and many websites told me to do... Can someone tell me why it is not enabling it?

restarting my laptop worked also
Do I need to restart every time? :/
Here's a permanent fix for this problem, no restarting required:

1) Make sure Steam is not running and uncheck it from the accessibility preference pane.
2) Close system preferences.
3) Open Terminal and copy/paste the following exactly as you see it, including all quotes:

sudo sqlite3 /Library/Application\ Support/com.apple.TCC/Tcc.db 'delete from access where client like "%Steam%"'

4) Re-open the accessibility preference pane and make sure that Steam is not listed.
5) Close system preferences, launch Steam, and try to play a game. The warning dialog box about the Steam overlay will pop up again. Use it to go back into system preferences and Steam should have re-appeared. Check the box if it's not already, close system preferences, and you should be good to go.

Whoaaa solution i looking for, trying now! will update here it soon
I think just toggling the check box in the Accessibility panel will do the trick to. (Uncheck and then check.)
Nothing worked for me. I put in $5 to buy stuff that i can't use now.
restarting doesn't work for me. this litch is still around wondering if i should redownload steam

it could also be that your computer aren't updated enough.. same was for me, but then i updated my software and now it works! try the same
