Streaming Games from a Mac

So, I have some games I will likely want to stream from an iMac. To test this, I had iMac (wanting to use as the source of the game), and, a Steam Linux I wanted to stream to. This is in advance of a future purchase of a Steam Link. Just wanted to see it work in this direction. So clicked stream for a game on Linux, and, the Mac needed to install some extension. It did. Stream again, and, it wanted to install another extension and reboot. So, it did, but 10 times slower reboot. When it came up and I started Steam on the Mac, and the screen looked like veritical refresh gopne super slow, you could watch alternating bars within the Steam app moving around, endless, so much you could hardly click on anything at all. In the end, the whole machine was vastly slower, so, I remove the .kext Steam files, and, all was back to normal.

Is anyone streaming from a Mac? Any ideas what the issue may have been?

I don't know if this is possible yet because I tried to use steam on my Macbook air to host a steam link server (in the preferences, In Home Streaming) except it say's for me, Streaming is not available on this platform. So yea I don't think it will work. I could be wrong but this is my experience.
