Login menu missing text (MacOS 12.5.1 Monterey)
Not my device but posting for a friend. Hope a solution can be found soon, thanks!

Observation:
After updating her MacBook Air (2021) to MacOS 12.5.1 Monterey, my friend's Steam client directed her to the login menu instead of remembering her auto-login. However the login menu did not contain any text where there should be. Also, all text boxes, checkboxes and buttons cannot be clicked on/interacted with.

Expected:
After clicking on the Steam icon, Steam should download any minor updates, then Steam main menu (e.g. user library) should appear. Even if directed to the login menu,

My friend has tried completely uninstalling and reinstalling Steam, as well as running this set of code in Terminal from a past Steam thread . Neither attempt solved the missing text issue.

I'm having the same issue - no text on the startup screen. And as far as I can tell the only thing that's changed is I updated to Monterey 12.5.1. The only difference between the two situations is that I'm on a MacBook Pro M1, not Air. I'm currently talking with Steam Support on the issue - will reply with a solution here once I have it (IF Steam supplies a solution).

Are you still having this problem? I contacted Steam support but they haven't gotten back to me yet.

Yup, friend's interface is still text-less.

Although at the same time I did hear from a university classmate that joined some kind of OS beta and saw no text issues in his Steam menu afterwards. I'll ask him for more info on that.

See posts #21 and #22 here for a potential fix which worked for me. Also see post #16 if steamclean is crashing. https://steamcommunity.com/discussions/forum/2/3430075523240213495/?ctp=2

The text was invisible on my Mac too. After having some issues with my Mac (besides the missing Steam text) I brought it in, Apple sent it off for repairs wiped my HD, and installed Monterey 12.6. After reinstalling Steam (and every other app again), it's now working. Can't say this is a solution, except maybe a worst-case solution. Wiping your hard drive is not the most enjoyable thing. But it did work.

Before anyone wipes their system, they should delete the files in ~/Library/Application Support/Steam, then reinstall steam. There are config files and other things in there that could have gotten corrupted.

In general you probably don't have to delete the files in SteamApps in there, but if you do you'll have to redownload your games too.

Same issue! I am on Monterey 12.5
With a lot of effort I managed to log in, but without seeing anything I can't even activate a game, or change steam settings. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling steam. It did not work.
