Steam on mac os sierra (10.12.6) - I'm desperate...

Hi everyone,
Yesterday I had a strong urge to play aoe2 with my girlfriend, she has a PC and I have a mac... I tried 3 different tutorials to get it to work on my mac - First I installed PlayOnMac but it wouldn't launch steam properly (I think the problem this time was the missing font). Then I installed it through Wineskin and it still wouldn't work ; the in-app web browser wouldn't load so I couldn't access my profile and games... Then I installed with Porting kit and everything was fine until i clicked "PLAY" and...nothing happens. It feels like I've tried everything. Anyone has that same OS version and managed to make it actually work ???

I'm sorry, I may be a noob but this thread didn't make much sense to me, except for the last post : "steam runs for me but when i try an open a game, it just doesnt respond..."
