After update to MacOS Monterey 12.0.1 Steam is unable to open--Steam crashes immediately

I recently updated my macOS to Monterey 12.0.1. Whenever I try to open Steam, whether directly or by clicking on a Steam game shortcut, it immediately crashes. It does not open at all whatsoever.

Please help!

I have not updated yet but I have the installer ready, im currently using big sur but my Mac will just bounce on the dock and not open idk how to fix it?

steam works but liftoff game bricks my mac OS. I deleted the game and reinstall but still issue.... any thing?

Still on Big Sur, it started crashing after updating steam. I rebooted, nothing. Deleted and reinstalled the app, seems to have fixed the issue. Not sure but maybe the update didn't apply correctly.

I had the same issue (Monterey 12.0.1, same error report). I deleted and reinstalled Steam, and that fixed it.

I had the same symptoms after updating to Monterey.

After searching here in the forum I tried the following tip:
entered the following two lines in the terminal:

cd /Applications/Steam.app/Contents/MacOS
./steam.sh

after that Steam worked again
