Is there a way to run game software without running Steam software in the background?
I'm trying to figure out how to play a game on my Mac without running Steam in the background. I'm trying to cut down on all of the software I have on my Mac (trying to learn from past mistakes now that I have a new Macbook). The game I want to run is not offered outside of distribution services. Any tips or ideas? I could really use them.

I don't know if this is relevant to my question, but I'm using a 2020 MacBook Pro (M1 chip, 16 GB of memory) on Monterey 12.1.

Completely dependent on the game and if the game developer decided to use Steam as a form of DRM itself. It doesn't have anything to do with you or your preferred gaming machine.
You can simply try to run the game through its own executable without opening Steam to see if it requires Steam to run.

So, you essentially want to pirate a game?

No, I want to use the game I bought without using Steams extra software.

So, you essentially want to crack the game. Not that far off from pirating it.

Little late to the party, was also interested in this. Mainly to reduce the RAM usage as I have a 8gb Macbook, and Steam, Battle ect. do use quite a bit of RAM,

All games on GOG can be launched without launcher, that was an idea.
