Games wont open on MacBook Pro at all
Hello steam community

i have a macbook pro 2017 with corei7 2.8GHZ running Macos catalina
the steam app is working just fine after re downloading it from the website .

once i was trying to run games , any games, it wont run ,for some of them it wont even let to download due to un unknown error window that pops
for example L4D2 - it get to Preparing to lunch lil window for a sec and then just disappear and nothing happens ,

some other games like Lego Starwars 3 - it doesnt even show the Preparing to lunch window , it shows an Unknown steam error window saying - the game could not be updated due to an unknown error .

both continue to happen with all of my games

i really have no idea whats going on, i was trying anything that steam had to offer refering those problems , reinstalling steam and games and nothing helps

id really appreciate if anyone could assist

tnx

Are you sure those are 64Bit games? Catalina no longer runs 32Bit apps.

To check the apps on your machine click on the apple logo at the top-left of your screen and select "About This Mac". Then click on the "System Report" button in the Overview section.

In the window that pops up, look down the left-hand column and choose "Applications" under the "Software" title. It will scan your Mac and list your apps. The column "64-Bit (Intel)" will identify if apps are 64-Bit or not. Hope that helps.

I'm not sure how accurate it is in terms of Catalina compatibility though, as some of my games, 'Alwas Awakening' for example, are reported as 64-Bit in the system reporter but are listed on Steam store pages as incompatible with Catalina anyway.

I can't check first hand if they work in Catalina or not as my machine is limited to High Sierra.

Are you using an external drive to store all of your games?

Sam problem. For example, San Andreas and Civ5 are not working. Civ5 gives me an error code while San Andreas doesn't even show me anything at all. But Golf with friends is working... Haha :( So I guess old games are out of the picture now. I will never ever get the flight quest on San Andreas done it seems.

I really hope someone finds a solution for this, something you can do manually because I'm not going to buy a computer soon and I needed to update my computer because other programs that I use stopped working. This is getting really ridiculous.

Dual boot with an older version of MAC OS.

I was happily playing Napoleon Total War in my 2 years old 27¨ 5K Imac with MacOS10.12 and today NTW doesn´t works anymore because I have not installed MACos 10.15 Catalina. THe point is that I won´t install Catalina for the moment or I would loose all my 32bit program. After a whole life with Apple I´m seriously thinking to shift to Windows. Fu***** Apple Sh**!!!!

If you clarify WHICH games people might have a chance at giving accurate info...
