How to update your Steam install to 64-bit before macOS Catalina
https://appleinsider.com/articles/19/09/03/how-to-update-your-steam-install-to-64-bit-before-macos-catalina

This is an appleinsider article published on September 3, 2019. It clearly tells you how to prepare your Steam Client before upgrading to macOS Catalina.

Opening statement from this article:

"Yes, the Steam client itself is 64-bits, and most of your games probably are too, but if you've had an install for a while, your client is probably only 32-bit. Here's how to make sure you've got a Steam client compatible with macOS Catalina."

Update: I just finished upgrading to macOS Catalina. While Steam itself does run, none of my games will run as every single one of them is 32-bit. Portal 2 is 32-bit, and it's the one I play nearly exclusively; well, prior to the upgrade. So now, I have no playable games. :(

Same here - why can't Apple append Catalina to run 32 bit games? It appears that Apple has thrown those who have 32 bit games under the bus! Fat chance that the games' developers would upgrade their 32 bit games to 64 bit versions! This SUCKS!

Same here. I upgraded to Catalina and none of my games are running. That's really annoying.

The fault is not with Steam.

64 bit technology in Mac OS has been in place since 2007. Mac gamers know that were far lower on the food chain than the Windows PC market. It's unfortunate :steamsad: and frankly ♥♥♥♥♥♥ that we are somewhat discriminated against. Simply said the market dictates the rules. Follow the Money!

Sure steam will run but none of the games. Any idea on when this will be Actually fixed?

Ask the developers of the games to release a 64Bit version of their games. Or Apple to reverse their stance on no longer supporting 32Bit applications.
