Macbook Air M1, Steam, PS4 Controller Support ?

I've been trying for weeks to get my PS4 controller working with my steam library. I've tried posting at /r/macgaming with no results.

Everything is up-to-date. Playstation controller is selected in the Steam controller settings, it shows that my ps4 controller is connected. The controller works in big picture mode. I can launch the games with the controller, it even loads gamepad config upon launching the games. Once the games are launched they do not register any input from the controller.

Whenever I launch Steam Big Picture it prompts me that it needs an gamepad driver update and it fails every time. No matter what i do.

My controller works on Stadia/GeforceNOW/Parsec/and my actual Playstation 4 Pro.

I'm at a total loss. I have no idea what to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
