Can't log in to my account on Steam app (Macbook)

I have been Googling this for the past 2 hours and it is driving me insane... Tried uninstalling Steam, reinstalling, changed my password, typing my account name in caps, etc but nothing is working for me. Does anyone have any advice?

I am having the same problem. keeps telling me the can't connect to steam server. waiting for someone to help and I can play.

Same here! I have just downloaded steam and uninstalled many times only to get a error that it cannot connect to servers.

The 3 of you all are on McBook? Did you try logging in on some-one elses internet connection, while your own connection was disabled? There have been times that Steam would be blocked by some providers.

(sorry i'm a Windows man, don't know about Mac or iOS, just got here because kaze_0208 wrote the question on some mods or employees profiles)

Yeah im on macbook! I downloaded steam on my dads macbook and it works just fine!!! it logs in and everything. Although I can't play games on his laptop. But on mine it won't let me log in. Keeps saying cannot connect to stream servers. I haven't tried on someone elses network its just weird were both on the same network.

Not a provider issue then.

One of the few standard answers suited to Mac i have, may deal with connetion issues. For Windows, this particular answer is mostly copy/pasted incomplete, 1000's of times. For Windows it's very important to remove all old shortcuts to the Steam launcher and at first re-launch only use the original launcher in the installation directory. Only then can the launcher create an new shortcut to that launcher in the start-menu. Any use of an old shortcut will revert the Steam client back to it's previous broken state. I can imagine this for Mac to be of equal importance.

So if you Googled for solutions in stead of searching the Steam Knowledge base artikles themselves, the answers you have seen might've been incomplete.

MAC OSX

• Completely exit the Steam client. Remove all old shortcuts to the Steam Launcher but not the original launcher in the Steam installation directory.
  
• Open Safari and type
  

   steam://flushconfig 

  then press enter
  
• Restart your computer.
  
• Start Steam with the launcher from the Steam installation directory and log in oncemore.
