Remote play together for M1 Mac Pro
When can we expect this to be fixed? I can't play any games because it won't let me install gamepad drivers. Any known fix to this problem that seems to go on for 1.5 year already?

Considering Apple explicitly does not allow such drivers anymore, there isn't much Valve can do.

If you have friend who has a Windows PC and they're happy to host, using Parsec works well for remote play with one player using an M1 Mac as a client. Based on my own experience, it still won't work with wired/wireless 360 pads (as the driver is M1 incompatible and won't get updated), but it's fine with both PS4 Dual Shock and Xbox Wireless Controllers (Series X/S) via bluetooth (possibly when wired up too, but I've not tested that fully yet).
