Controller Problem on Big Sur Update
I just update my MacBook Pro OS into Big Sur. Every time I launch Steam in Big Picture Mode it will prompt me to install a controller driver or something, and after I follow everything, it told me to restart Steam client. After open up again, it will ask me again the same question for the controller thing again. It just turn into death loop.
Any one here same problem? Before Big Sur, I have no problem using PS4 controller

The same issue...
This 'controller driver update' shows me a small window, which is 'Plz click the 'allow' button to load system software from 'value corporation' and/or 'ambrosia software, Inc' in the security & privacy system settings', however, I tried 5 times, Apple never gave me this 'allow' option in 'Security & Privacy system settings' window, I tried to unlock this window before I open steam to update my controller driver, but nothing happened in that 'S & P' window. But that 'install steam input' shows installed successfully every time after I clicked 'OK' in that 'Plz click the... in S&P' window. Actually it never installed successfully because I never had a chance to allow my system to install this package. But both Big Sur and 'Steam Input' installation itself ignores this 'Key step'. I don't know the solution.

Currently, I can't use my Switch Pro controller in games, I can use my controller to control the Steam interface, but once I started the game, like HADES, it switched into keyboard and mouse model immediately.

I've tried everything to fix this but no matter what I do i can't get the "Allow" button to show so the driver never installs. Is there a fix for this? Or do controllers just not work anymore?

I am experiencing the same issue: Steam recognizes my Xbox Controller but no games will. Continually says "Steam needs to update gamepad driver" in BPM. There is this thread from August talking about Big Sur beta on Mac which may offer answer: https://steamcommunity.com/discussions/forum/2/2989789048623660795/

It says,
"The reason this is happening is because Steam still uses the older kernel extension method for implementing custom drivers. This is less secure than Apple's newer solution, DriverKit. Apple has deprecated kernel extensions for a while now, and with Big Sur, they're removing it completely by disabling them....Steam needs to transition to DriverKit before then, or there will be no way to load the driver anymore."

So looks like bad news for short term if this response is correct. Steam just needs to update to deal with BigSur. Hopefully happens soon.
