Civ VI issues
Recently had to move from PC to Mac. Running a brand new MacBook Pro.

Civ VI downloads and installs just fine. Can load into a game. But when I open a menu within the game it doesn't always close. Can't advance turn or select techs by clicking the big wheel/button in the bottom right corner. Makes the game unplayable. Everything is updated and I've tried restarting everything.

I've read that Big Sur has made the game incompatible. Are there are known work arounds or fixes on the way? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

If it's an issue with Mac OS Big Sur, I believe you'll need to downgrade to Catalina or a previous version of Mac: https://setapp.com/how-to/downgrade-from-big-sur-to-catalina

And if this is one of the new M1 Macs, even though there is Rosetta to allow for x86-64 code execution it may not work well for games.

Here are the specs of the Mac:

Model Name: MacBook Pro (16inch 2019)
Processor Name: 8-Core Intel Core i9
Processor Speed: 2.3 GHz
Memory: 16 GB
AMD Radeon Pro 5500M 8 GB

I'll look into downgrading but it seems like an annoying step.

How would I determine if this is an M1 Mac?

It's not, it's an Intel Mac. The M1 is only used in some 13" MBP and the new MBA.

I have the same system as you do, but I don't have that game. Looking at the system requirements, the Mac exceeds all requirements.
I figured it out.

I had an old UI mod that hadn't been updated. I had stopped using it but installing on a new machine caused the mod to get reactivated. Very happy to report so far, I can play without any problems.

Thanks for trying to help out everyone!
