Steam Streaming (Big Picture) on MacOS just bad?
Hi everyone,

I have been trying to get Steam Streaming to my MacBook Air (2019) to work properly but I get a lot of artifacts when I make a lot of quick movements.

The game I am testing with: Oxygen not included.

I am not new to Steam Streaming. I own a Steam Link which is connected to my router by a lan cable which in turn is connected to my pc. I am mainly a pc gamer but sometimes I like the comfort of a big screen and controller to sit on a couch.

When I stream from my pc to my steam link pretty much every game runs fine, minimal lag, no artifacting.

When I try to play on my macbook air (I tried both wireless and wired to my router, just like the steam link) I get minimal lag but tons of artifacting. When I move my mouse, which moves the "map" i.e. the entire screen, and I do it quickly, it looks like a youtube video in 240p until I stop moving. Then it smoothes out until it looks mostly sharp. Mostly because my macbook is native 2560x1600 and I have my Pc set up to 1080p.

The shocking thing was trying the steam link app from my phone. I started the steam link app, connected to my pc, started the game and the game seems a lot smoother.

Am I missing something? I don't understand on which level the problem is! It's not the network or all other machines would suffer the same way. Is it the Hardware of the macbook that can't keep up? Is it MacOS somehow throwing a wrench in? Or is this a "Steam for MacOS" issue?
Seeing this work well on my 5 year old phone kine of makes me think it's a "Steam for MacOS" issue.

Can anybody confirm or help me?

Thanks in advance!
