Cannot install Steam Input on Big Sur (for Steam Link)

"The installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail". I know I was supposed to approve the kext in System Preferences in Security & Privacy but nothing showed up there. Tried installing multiple times

Google how to disable SIP. After doing that, the installer might still say it failed, but it won't actually fail and once you enable the extension in System Preferences, it should work. This is an issue caused by Steam using a legacy kernel extension system which has been deprecated for a while and disabled in Big Sur. Apple decided to temporarily allow them when you disable SIP, but this won't work when Big Sur finally releases, so Steam will need to adopt DriverKit by September.

That did not work as well, still asking for allow

I have the same problem.
Controller works on Big Picture mode and Steam aks for install the update.
The update failed, also with SIP disabled and there is nothing in System Preferences where I can install it.

On some games Controller works ... but not on Hollowknight (my favorite) :(

I am using the New Mac Book Air M1

Is there a solution??

Same issue, spent the week racking my brain, come to the conclusion it's not getting fixed anytime soon by steam, big Sur is a mess with Steam. I eventually downgraded to Catalina and it went very smoothly in comparison. Other option is to use Windows Bootcamp, which is not ideal on a Mac for me, so they're the only two solutions I have found after days of wasted time and frustration

Steam need to have a game running on M1 chip. I wonder how long it will take before we can actually play a fame from 20+ years ago.

just installed Big Sur, cant remote play due to the same security and privacy error, subbed to the disc.
