DS4 Controller Not Working On Mac

As the title says I cannot get the controller to work on mac. It connects perfectly fine however when trying to play a game it does nothing with the only exception being if I stream the game to my Macbook because it for some reason works then.

Not sure if this will help: Try "Preferences" from the Steam drop menu (up top). Click on "Controller," then controller preferences. It should show up. Have you tried plugging it in? I'm trying to get two controllers work at once, what a headache!

It does come up in my controller preferences but when I launch a game (even if I launch it in big picture mode by using the controller) it does not work anymore.
