Mouse Acceleration CS:GO on Mac setup help w/Smoothmouse

So, ever since I got CSGO on mac I have been playing with mouse acceleration on, this was because whenever I turned off acceleration the mouse pointer felt less precise and it felt all over the place. I have played CSGO on a windows machine and it didn't feel this odd, so I just played with acceleration because I couldn't get used to playing without it.
Now playing with acceleration is a massive annoyance because I can feel the mouse cursor being dragged and it makes tracking the enemies nearly impossible.
I installed Smoothmouse because I read in some places that this helps make the acceleration close to that of a windows machine. Now I have started playing CS with the new acceleration, but I cannot manage to get the settings right, I cannot control the spray because the y axis feels too fast. Is this supposed to happen? or am I doing something wrong? I would love some input on this and maybe some tips if you have any.
