I have to wonder if Apple put that in so they could track app usage to determine when Intel support is no longer needed. What I mean is that when the app "phones home" it reports a signature indicating if it's running on an Intel-based or M1-based Mac and if the app is native Intel or is running emulation to run on Intel or is native Intel and running emulation to run on ARM.
This information would be useful to Apple. I have to wonder if there is any user identification in that reporting or if it's strictly to track developers not making progress on moving to supporting the new architecture.
