Dualshock4 V2 connected to MAC by Bluetooth, but only works for a single game...
here we go, I'm trying to figure out why the latest Playstation 4 controller, the Dualshock4 V2, doesn't work properly

I have a MAC, latest updates installed etc and the controller is connected by Bluetooth.
It works in the Big Picture mode and in only one game it seems, Dust: An Elysian Tail..

But Tomb Raider, Bioshock Infinite, Portal 2, The Walking Dead... none of these would work and I'm not fancying the idea of trying each game individually

If you guys had any idea I would appreciate any help! (yes I've tried wired too)

(and if it helps, the games I've started seem to launch a configuration windows first before you can actually access the full-screened game... and that's after leaving a full-screen Big Picture mode while on Steam. While Dust: An Elysian Tail just goes straight from BP mode to game)

Playstation controllers use a different API (D-Input) than the standard x-box ones (X-Input). Windows and MacOS don't really support them out of the box. Some programs like Steam or OpenEMU will recognize it but most regular games can't make head's or tails form the input. You need a driver to simulate a regular x-box controller. I'm not sure if there is a working one for Mac though.

What I always do is double check if the game supports full controller before I purchase it. I can test for you Portal 2 or TWD2 for you this week with a PS4 controller. But so far I have succes (didn't had to do anything other then maybe enable the controller in the settings) playing with the PS4 controller with: Stardew Valley, Dirt3, Nuclear Throne, Rocket Leage, The Binding of Isaac Rebirth, Brawhalla and many others that have full controller support. I use the controller wireless also it's never connected with USB.

The games that show partial controller support I just skip. I'm not sure what model I have I bought this one about a year ago it has model number CUH-ZCT1E

MacOS does support Dualshock (3 and 4) controllers out of the box, though the support via Bluetooth can be spotty. It still depends on the game whether the controller works properly, though.

I have the same problem and cannot use PS4 dual shock for Lift Off - although I was told that it should work. What drivers do I need for MacOS? Thanks
